Akupara Games Monthly Dev Log – April 2026

Hello dev log readers! I’m Riv Otter, Community Manager for Akupara Games and we are back with our regularly scheduled dev log! Now, April holds a special place in my heart for being my birthday month, but it’s also been pretty busy at Akupara Games, too! We released a game, participated in some showcases, and opened up a playtesting group for our games!

Kumitantei | First Episode Out Now

The first episode of Kumitantei is out now! 

Join Himari as she and other absolute students are trapped in a zero sum game! To escape, you must get away with murder or be the last one standing. Who do you trust? Who CAN you trust? Do you have what it takes to get through the tangle of lies, confusion, deception and point your finger at the murderer? Your life depends on it.

Immortal John Triptych | Game Reveal

We just announced, literally yesterday, our partnership with Joe Richardson to bring you The Immortal John Triptych.

The Immortal John Triptych brings Four Last Things, The Procession to Calvary, and Death of the Reprobate together under one complete package! If you’re a fan of Renaissance artwork, classical music, and a story sure to make you softly exhale through your nostrils (aka a snort or scoff) then these titles are for you.

 

This isn’t just a merging of the three games, this is never-before-seen bonus features, deleted scenes, and a QoL facelift! WOW! Expect Immortal John Triptych to come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X + Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch 1 + 2 later this year.

 

If you’re a PC player, don’t worry, you’ll be able to purchase the Immortal John Triptych as a DLC on Steam, including ALL the little bits and bops. We are also giving a free Quality of Life update to all three games to make sure each title is in tip top shape!

Akupara Games | Playtest

Earlier this month, we announced a new program, looking for playtesters who want to test and give feedback on our games as we work on developing them.

Montabi | Second Wind Showcase

Montabi participated in the Second Wind Showcase with the next Montapedia deep dive!

Boy Dozan, the game director of Montabi, talked about how they designed one of the Montabi in game! How it started with a fish!

 

I was in the Montabi Discord and hosted a Watch Party for the showcase with the community. We have some more showcases coming through soon, so join the Discord to keep up to date on future watch parties and news!

Rain World | Brick Set Merch + Rain World Art Month Gallery

We partnered with Youtooz again to bring to life Sky Islands and Coral Caves brickset!

Art Month

Art Month is officially over and it still feels surreal. This was something I started many years ago even before I was a community manager on Rain World and it makes me so happy that now artists look forward to joining and ask about it every year.

 

This year we had over 7,000 art pieces from hundreds of artists. I designed a virtual art gallery where you can view just some of the art from the community. If you would like to see more art, then check out the #rwartmonth hashtag on Twitter or Bluesky!
