Universe for Sale is a point and click visual novel with hand-drawn animations following a cultist on the planet Jupiter in a fractured community. Universe for Sale brings unique characters who face extraordinary challenges if they want to preserve their home among the stars. Today, I want to share a little about two of those characters in the game!

The Master

The first thing that you may notice is that the Master is missing quite a few of his body parts! The Cult of Detachment (great name!) encourage all of their members to free themselves of their physical form so they can get closer and closer to enlightenment and The Master has pursued those ends with dogmatic zeal.

You may think that being the main character, you would know the most about them but mystery is inherent to the Master. In fact, not much is known about the Master’s history as they don’t like to dwell on memories of things long gone. Even their name remains a mystery. They have almost completely become detached from their past. Almost.

Lila

Lila is one of the first people you’ll meet in Universe for Sale. Being a resident of Jupiter’s colony, she will guide you through the tarp-covered market and you’ll learn a lot about the community and the issues they face through her. Don’t ask too many questions, though, as she is very protective of the information she holds, even threatening to burn down whole establishments if you get too involved in her business. She knows more than she lets on.

A woman of contradictions, Lilia has both the amazing ability to craft universes in the palm of her hand and the blase attitude to just sell them in the streets. She can create them from the simplest things, even just the liquids from tea telling you what is special about them, like maybe time runs backwards in a universe. The scary thing is, not only can she create universes, she can also destroy them.

If the enigmatic Master and down-to-Earth Lila aren’t enough to wet your whistle, though, I’ll be featuring more characters from the game soon on this very blog! Keep your eyes peeled!
