The Akupara Lunar New Year Holiday Party!

With the announcement of our 2020 slate of games under our belt, as well as new content for Mutazione freshly released, the team at Akupara Games took the opportunity to get together a little bit later than usual for our 2020 Holiday Party! Just in time for the Lunar New Year (and a certain someone’s birthday,) the new office in Granada Hills hosted team members, clients, and a very special tortoise as we got together to celebrate everything coming in the first year of a new decade.

Akupara CEO David Logan started the festivities with a rousing speech to everyone in attendance. After Akupara’s first few years taking on projects like The Metronomicon and Desert Child, we’re now headlining three different games over the course of 2020. Even as the excitement of new releases, new content and new announcements keep the team busy, it has always been important for Akupara to slow down, get together, and have some fun!

As always, the mastermind of the night’s festivities was Associate Producer, Chris Nguyen. Ordering delicious catering from Maggiano’s Little Italy, Chris made sure to keep everyone fed as Buddy and Doug swapped stories about working on high maintenance MMORPGs and Richard showed off his newest tattoos. As a treat, Chris ordered two dozen cupcakes from world famous Sprinkles in Glendale!

The Lunar New Year wasn’t the only holiday this weekend, however! At the very tail end of his trip to LA (documented in excruciating detail on his Twitter!) Richard celebrated his 31st birthday with the team! While a local of Toronto and a huge supporter of his local streaming and influencer scene, Richard’s work with Akupara has only been getting more substantial since we brought him back as an influencer contact and marketing strategist. Though he’s since returned to the frigid north, everyone wished him a happy birthday among the palm trees and seventy degrees of Los Angeles!

As always, we love to peel back the curtain on some of the intricacies of how we approach game design and publishing, but we also like to show folks how we relax as well! If you want to get in touch to ask Chris what are the best cupcakes or Richard where he got his tattoos, please feel free to reach out to us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Discord!
